Discover the secrets of the masters of bronze bells
1984. Open days were organized at the PACCARD Foundry in Annecy le Vieux (in the French Alps), during which interest of people for the art of campanology was noticeable. Therefore Mr. Pierre Paccard and his wife, Mrs Françoise Paccard decided to create a museum dedicated to bells in general with a more specific approach dealing with the PACCARD Foundry, the plant of which was still located in Annecy le Vieux at that time.
In 1989, the Museum of bells was moved to a place named Sevrier on Annecy lake shore. There, you can see an amazingly interesting exhibition of tools, documents, engravings, photos and bells, treating of the history of the Bell with a capital B, along with the history of the PACCARD Foundry.
You are also invited to watch three documentary films, about Twenty minutes each, (“the World Peace Bell”, “Mastering the fire”, “Bronze figures”), and learn everything about the making of a bell. You’ll be particularly thrilled to see castings of monumental bells !

Embrace the magic of molten bronze and be prepared to be surprised by a Savoyard family-owned company who bears the colors of France all over the world. Since 1796, more than 120.000 bells have been manufactured by the PACCARD Bell Foundry, among which, in 1891, the famous "Savoyarde" of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre, the largest bell in France (18835 kg / 41.524 lb), or else, in 1998, the biggest swinging bell in the world, 33 tons (73.000 lb) ! Come and discover them at the PACCARD Bell Museum.

Educational tours involve the senses of sight, hearing, touch and smell. The subjects covered vary depending the grade : the hand work, the evolution of craftmanship and industry, the molding process, or else music, with the discovery and comprehension of the tone of the bells. Each theme is handled so as to be intelligible to young public of any age.

The PACCARD Bell Museum offers you an exceptional environment to make your events and business seminars successful. In the "Françoise Paccard" Space Seminar you can choose the set-up of the room depending on the type of gathering you want to organize. (conference, symposium, seminar, workshop…).
